The B-Sides

Every project site photo documentation has a B-side.

Every initial site visit to an addition and alteration (A&A) project inevitably results in a photo album. The photos will document the as-built state of the property. Back at the office, we will pour through this information and build up a concept image of how we can refine the brief together with our client.

If the above collection is de rigueur in this age of smartphone cameras, then there must also a B-side collection. This is an alternate collection of photos that did not quite make the cut for a formal visual documentation of the property, but yet somehow still captures the property’s intangibles.

As we walked through the property, hints of its layered past will peek out from the nooks and crannies of the surfaces.

Strangely, it reminded us of some of Studio Ghibli’s work like Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro. Where life lurks in the cracks of the house, all full of curiosity of us Humans.
